Founded in 1996, Université de Quebec city (University of Quebec City) is a profit and non-profit public higher education institution located in the the urban setting of the large city of Montreal (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Quebec. Officially accredited/recognized by the Ministre de l'Éducation, de l'Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche, Québec (Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research, Quebec), Quebec City University is a very large coeducational higher education institution. QCU offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, and doctorate degrees in several areas of study.
The university offers academic programs administered by six faculties and ten faculty-based schools. The university also operates four satellite campuses and four affiliated university colleges. QCU is a member of the U35, a group of research-intensive universities in Canada. The student population at Quebec city consists of 30,600 undergraduate & 5,300 graduate students and 5,200 employers. These numbers include 25 per cent international undergraduate and 36 per cent international graduate students. QCU boasts of 1,139 full-time faculty and 322 international faculty that has delivered 5,778 Bachelor degrees, 1,723 Masters 303 PhDs (2014)
The university is most famous for its Cooperative Education (co-op) programs, which allow students to integrate their education with applicable work experiences. University of QCU operates the largest post secondary co-op program of its kind in the world.
